by Lee Havenga | June 1, 2023
If you were here, right in front of me, and I knew you were going through a difficult time, I would take your face in my hands, look into your gorgeous eyes, and tell you this:
My friend, in the face of life’s challenges, remember to be your biggest encourager. Give yourself permission to take a step back, recharge, and engage in activities that bring you joy and peace. Whether it’s indulging in a cozy movie night with your favorite snacks, embarking on a soothing walk in nature to clear your mind, or simply carving out moments of quiet reflection, honor your need for self-kindness. It’s absolutely okay to feel overwhelmed at times, and in those moments, you can be your own source of encouragement and self-compassion. By embracing self-kindness during difficult times, you are fortifying your inner strength, nurturing resilience, and laying the groundwork for your overall well-being to flourish. Believe in yourself, my friend, because indeed, you have the strength to overcome any obstacle that comes your way.

KINDNESS

Self-kindness is not a luxury, it’s a necessity that replenishes your spirit and strengthens your resilience to navigate life’s twists and turns.
Apply it
1. Practice self-care
Engage in activities that promote relaxation and well-being, such as taking a warm bath, reading a book, or practicing mindfulness.
2. Prioritize rest and sleep
Allow yourself sufficient time for restful sleep to recharge your body and mind.
3. Nurture your body
Eat nourishing meals, stay hydrated, and engage in gentle exercise that feels good for you.
4. Set boundaries
Learn to say, “No” when needed and establish healthy boundaries to protect your energy and well-being.
5. Practice self-compassion
Be gentle with yourself and acknowledge that it’s okay to feel and experience emotions during difficult times.
6. Seek support
Reach out to trusted friends, family, or professionals for emotional support and guidance.
7. Engage in hobbies or activities you enjoy
Dedicate time to things that bring you joy and allow for creative expression or relaxation.
8. Practice gratitude
Take moments each day to appreciate the positive aspects of your life, no matter how small they may seem.
9. Practice self-reflection
Journaling or self-reflection exercises can help you gain clarity and insight into your emotions and experiences.
10. Engage in self-compassionate self-talk
Replace self-criticism with kind and encouraging words, treating yourself with the same kindness you would offer a close friend.
Keep ROCKing thru life’s challenges, my friends! Embrace self-kindness as your guiding light, and let it empower you to navigate the ups and downs with resilience, strength, and a whole lot of awesomeness. You’ve got this!~ XO, Lee
