ROCK thru overwhelm with Kindness

I interrupt the ongoing ‘When Life feels like a Climb’ series to share a real-life example of the application of Kindness. As I write this, my house is in chaos due to unplanned construction, I have just completed a series of demanding work projects and meetings that lasted for weeks, I have finalized all the arrangements for our son’s upcoming graduation and party, I’m about to head out to pick up family members from the airport. To top it all off, I’m feeling hangry because I haven’t eaten much today. This is the perfect time to share how I prioritize Kindness and demonstrate generous consideration through my actions amidst my feelings of overwhelm.

Generous consideration: I understand the importance of delivering valuable content without inundating your time or inbox with irrelevant information.

The action: I have temporarily suspended the current series until I can fully dedicate my attention to curating meaningful and actionable content specifically for you. This pause will allow me to ensure that the content I provide is truly valuable and meets your needs.

 

Generous consideration for my family

 

Generous consideration: During this special time, our family members have set aside their valuable vacation days to come and celebrate with us, and it’s essential for me to give them my undivided attention.

The action: As soon as I embark on my journey to the airport, I am making a firm commitment to focus solely on them and not waste any energy on pointless worries about the cleanliness or tidiness of my house. Instead, I will consciously remind myself that a few lingering dust bunnies do not define me or diminish the love that others have for me.

 

 

Generous consideration for myself

 

Generous consideration: When my schedule becomes overwhelming, I often find myself sacrificing the activities I know support my well-being, all in pursuit of checking off tasks from my never-ending to-do list.

The action: I took a moment to refuel myself by replenishing my energy. I drank a refreshing glass of water, grabbed something to eat, and will allow myself an early night of restful sleep tonight. By taking these actions, I am demonstrating self-care and ensuring that I am in a better position to handle my commitments and engage with my loved ones.

I hope this message nudges you to pause, reflect on your current mindset, reassess your priorities, and embrace the power of generous consideration toward yourself and those in your life. And now, with these thoughts in mind, I must bid you farewell as I make my way to the airport. ~ XO, Lee
