Your journey of how to be selfless starts with the belief that you have enough and are enough to focus on the needs of others. We often hesitate to be kind because we fear we don’t have enough time, energy, or resources. But the truth is, when we feel abundant, generosity flows naturally. If you want to learn to be selfless, you must nurture that feeling of abundance—recognizing that sharing your time and energy enriches your life and others. Here’s a practice to cultivate that mindset and ROCK thru life.

APPLY IT IN 10 MINUTES

Set aside time each day to practice this simple yet powerful way to move toward a more selfless life. Focus on the acronym GIFT (Gratitude, Identify Resources, Freedom, Trust) to cultivate selflessness and deepen your ability to show Kindness toward the world.

Gratitude

• “Today, I choose to focus on the blessings I have, appreciating the abundance in my life.”

• Reflect on what you are grateful for. Cultivating gratitude shifts your focus from scarcity to abundance, helping you realize how much you already have to give.

Identify Resources

• “I acknowledge the time, energy, and possessions I have to offer others, and I choose to share them freely.”

• Recognize what you have to offer—whether it’s time, skills, or Kindness. This awareness helps you contribute to the well-being of others and embrace the impact of small acts of generosity.

Freedom

• “I release the need to hold on tightly to what I have, embracing the freedom that comes from giving with an open heart.”

• Let go of the urge to control or accumulate. This mantra reminds you that true generosity is liberating, fostering a sense of peace and lightness.

Trust

• “I trust that by giving freely, I am contributing to a greater good and inviting positive energy into my life.”

• Believe in the ripple effect of Kindness. Trust that your generosity contributes to the well-being of others, even when you can’t see immediate results.

DEEPEN THE IMPACT of MINDFUL BREATHING

As you practice the GIFT technique, take note of any emotions that arise. For example, if you feel resistance or resentment, ask yourself why. Write down your thoughts and explore what beliefs may be holding you back. This reflection not only helps you understand how to be selfless but also fosters deeper personal growth and a stronger connection to Kindness.
