ROCK thru when life feels like a climb | Connection to spirit

by Lee Havenga | May 18, 2023

In tough times, our longing for divine guidance grows stronger. While prayer is the hotline to the Big Guy, there are moments when we feel too overwhelmed and drained. So, what do we do when we crave a divine connection yet can’t gather the understanding, words, or energy to speak to God? Surely the creator of the universe created more than one way to connect in our anguish. He may be calling you to try a new way to listen to his voice. Will you answer?

CONNECTION

A graphic of two hands shaking and forming a heart to represent Connection, one of the four ROCK thru principles.

God’s voice knows no boundaries, reaching us through the whispers of nature, the quiet of our minds, and the gratitude of our hearts.

Apply it

Six ways to make a Connection with Spirit in your most challenging times.

1. Meditation

Quiet the mind, still the thoughts, and create a space for direct communion with the divine, opening yourself to receive God’s presence and wisdom.

2. Nature Immersion

Spend time in nature, observing its beauty and grandeur and recognizing the divine presence in every living creature and natural element.

3. Music and Chanting

Engage in devotional singing, chanting, or listening to music that elevates the soul and opens the heart to connect with God’s presence.

4. Journaling and Reflection

Write down your thoughts, feelings, and prayers, using the act of writing as a means of self-expression, reflection, and connection with God.

5. Study and Learning

Dive into spiritual teachings, scriptures, or philosophical works that deepen your understanding of God’s nature and cultivate a richer spiritual connection.

6. Stillness and Silence

Embrace moments of quiet solitude, where you can just ‘be,’ allowing yourself to be present and receptive to the subtle promptings of God’s guidance.

It’s up to each of us to find our unique path and embrace the multidimensional ways God can reveal Himself to us. May you ROCK thru however He leads the way.
