ROCK thru by Go-Giving

ROCK thru was born after recognizing four common principles in almost all successful approaches to personal, professional, and spiritual growth. This issue highlights how Respect, Ownership, Connection, and Kindness are incorporated into the powerful parable and the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success in the book, The Go-Giver.
RESPECT
“Go looking for the best in people, and you’ll be amazed at how much talent, ingenuity, empathy, and goodwill you’ll find.”

Apply it
Similar to the ROCK thru definition of Respect, “Acknowledging that all people have unconditional valuable” this story illustrates the assumption “Go-givers” make about the people they interact with. These successful businesspeople assume that if you expect people to take advantage of you, they likely will. Conversely, if you expect that people won’t take advantage of you, they likely won’t. Basically, when interacting with others, you often get what you expect. It’s not to say that you should be blind or ignorant to people’s negative behaviors, but rather when you are looking for the good in people, you’ll find it.
The Go-Giver tale doubles down on Respect by also illustrating the importance of self-Respect. The 4th Law of Stratospheric Success is “The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself.” Just how you’ll find what you’re looking for when assuming the best in others, you’ll be amazed at how much talent, ingenuity, empathy and goodwill you’ll find when you look for the best in yourself.
OWNERSHIP
“The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.”

The ROCK thru Ownership principle is an approach to daily life that involves being aware, accepting what you recognize, and taking action. The Go-Giver story embodies both the challenges and benefits of Ownership. Joe, a struggling high-roller consultant, goes through an enlightening process of becoming aware, accepting, and putting in to action a new business approach.
Without spoiling the ending, I’ll just say that Joe experiences the benefits of staying open to receiving a new perspective, guidance, and opportunities from others who show him how to be a Go-Giver.
CONNECTION
“Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them.”
~ The Law of Compensation, The Go-Giver
Apply it
The general concept of offering a product and service that many people find valuable isn’t new or earth-shattering. It’s obvious that the more people that find your offering valuable, the more sales you’ll have. The power of The Law of Compensation isn’t about but what you do to create the value, but HOW you do it. The fastest and most impactful way to find professional success is to be of service. Serve your colleagues, serve your customers and success will follow.
KINDNESS
“Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.”
~ The Law of Influence, The Go-Giver
Apply it
People are often surprised to see concepts of Kindness in business strategies and techniques. Most people, like Joe, expect success to be based on an aggressive dog-eat-dog mentality. Pindar, the Go-Giver guru explains, “If you place the other person’s interests first, your interests will always be taken care of. Always.”
And one last quote, “Give, give, give. Why? Because you love to. It’s not a strategy, it’s a way of life.” ~ The Go-Giver
